Work on renovating the train station in Lausanne won’t be re-starting any time soon.
It’s been suspended for the past few months on worries the work will undermine the structural integrity of the existing building.
Swiss Federal Railways sent a dossier to the Federal Transport Office outlining how the work will continue – making sure everything will be safe.
But it was not considered sufficient by federal authorities – and so the rail company will have to do more work and re-submit.
This will mean further delays.
Swiss Federal Railways says the transformation of the station is highly complex and has to take place while trains continue to run.
