We’re using public transport more.
Public transport companies experienced a notable surge in demand last year.
According to the Swiss Pass Alliance, revenue rose by 4.6% compared to the previous year, totaling just over CHF 7bn. Nearly 295 million travel passes were sold, with single tickets making up 71% of sales.
Half-price passes remain the most popular, with over 3.45 million in circulation.
Online ticket sales are booming, with 76.4% of all tickets purchased digitally, as traditional methods decline.
Seemingly we’re using trains more for pleasure - and not just commuting. The night tickets, valid after 7pm are proving more popular.
