Hundreds of UN workers gathered on the Place des Nations yesterday. Protesting at potential job cuts.
Staff unions say there’s a great deal of uncertainty as Trump inspired budget cuts sweep through the system.
That uncertainty was only heightened after an internal memo urged department heads to identify positions that could either be abolished or moved out of Geneva to less expensive UN offices.
The staff union says the cuts will undermine the UN’s work in fighting poverty and helping people who have been displaced, or facing famine or war.
