The Geneva based United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is to sack 3,500 worldwide – including nearly half based in Geneva.
The cut backs will also mean some local office closures.
The decision as made after the US House of Representatives decided to cut foreign aid by USD 8bn.
The news comes as there are more displaced people than ever before.
