A man who thought he could save a little bit of money is now facing fines and court costs of several thousand francs.
The 53-year-old was stopped at the Rheinfelden border as guards noticed something wrong with his autoroute vignette. The man had used cling film to make it easier to get the sticker off. He wanted to use the same one on different cars.
That’s illegal and he was fined CHF 3,000.
But he decided to take the matter to the Federal Court.
The higher judges upheld the fine – and now he has to pay costs. In total he’s nearly CHF 6,000 out of pocket.
Just for a CHF 40 sticker.
