If you want a pay rise, you should ask for it.
According to a survey by the recruitment firm Michael Page, Swiss workers are more reluctant to ask for more money than workers in the EU – and when they do, less successful.
35% of Swiss workers have asked in the last 12 months, and about a third did get more – but in the EU, nearly half have asked and about half of those did get a raise.
But workers are not necessarily interested only in money - better health coverage or higher pension contributions are also considered valuable – as well as the ability to work flexibly.
Recruiters advise being prepared before negotiating a salary rise, including finding out pay rates in similar roles elsewhere.
