Around 700 people were evacuated from a school in Gex in neighbouring France this week after a student brought in a World War One shell for show and tell.
The bomb squad from Lyon raced to the Georges Charpak school to check.
But the 15 cm shell was found to be harmless. It had long had the explosives removed.
Police searched the schoolboy’s home to makes sure there was no other ammunition.
