Will we be able to watch an episode of Stranger Things or Squid Game while behind the wheel on your way into work soon?
Actually, probably not - but there may be a relaxation on what you could be doing.
The federal government will be carrying out a study next year which will examine the impact drivers’ aids are having and do they justify allowing the driver more leeway on using a phone or other device?
The project will clarify which non-driving activities could be allowed in the future if the car is fitted with various driving aids.
But you won’t be able to watch TV – or take a nap - just yet. All systems require the driver to be able to take control if required.
