Work has started to fix the damage to the Broken Chair on the Place des Nations.
The chair was attacked by Femen activists with chainsaws in December.
The CHF 15,000 cost will be paid by the NGO, Handicap International which built the chair in the first place.
The charity says it believes it was attacked based on a misunderstanding. It points out it’s a symbol of peace – but it may have been seen as a symbol of the United Nations.
The Broken Chair has been in place for 27 years – except for a brief time it was taken away for renovation.
