Geneva police are warning of yet another scam. There have already been five attempts this week.
The thieves are posing as bank workers and call targets, saying there’s been an unauthorized withdrawal from their bank account.
They claim their bank card has been hacked and they need to collect the original. They also ask for the PIN number.
The card is collected by an unsuspecting taxi or Uber driver.
To add to the credibility, the scammers say they have already filed a police report.
Once again, the police say never hand over your bank cards – and especially your PIN number. They stress no bank or a police officer will ever ask for that.
