Members of the Young Tourist Professionals group stormed the stage at a delegate meeting in canton Graubünden.
They were incensed by a recent newspaper interview by the president of the Cantonal Hotel Association, Ernst Wyrsch, where he called young workers ‘effeminate’.
He says today’s young give up too quickly, become easily annoyed, are overly sensitive and sickly.
But the young professionals said they carry their work out with commitment. But they say the working day is too long and hierarchies too rigid. They say there needs to be more flexible working arrangements and a better work/life balance.
One in ten of vacancies are unfilled as the jobs are not attractive enough, they say.
They had asked for a time to address the conference, but were denied. So, they chose to invade the stage anyway.
