More than 800,000 people rely on Zurich’s public transport every day, and from today, many of them will be navigating unfamiliar routes.
The VBZ is rolling out the largest timetable change in its 129-year history.
Seven of the city’s fourteen tram lines now run on new routes, others are disrupted by construction, and several line numbers have changed.
To limit confusion, authorities have deployed 60 transport guides at major hubs. Even senior VBZ managers will be on the ground to help potentially confused commuters.
The overhaul is driven by construction at the main station and growing demand for connections to Zurich’s southern hospital district.
