In Zurich, more people will soon be able to legally light up under the city’s cannabis pilot project “Züri Can.”
The maximum number of participants has just been bumped up from 2,100 to 3,000 after hitting capacity for over a year.
The project, running since March 2023, promotes safer cannabis use and now sees growing interest from women and occasional users.
The city says more participants will improve study data and reflect a wider range of habits.
Approved by the Federal Office of Public Health, the study runs until 2026—with a possible extension.
Meanwhile, a separate canton-wide cannabis study with 4,500 participants is also ongoing.
