4,000 new homes in Geneva

Geneva built nearly 4,000 new homes last year – but it’s still not enough.

The number is almost double the average over the last ten years.

Throughout the canton, there are a quarter of a million housing units. But that’s not enough to cope with the increase in population.

Middle income families are struggling the most to find a suitable place to live.

The recently retired head of the Geneva Cantonal Bank, Blaise Goetschin, says demand is simply outstripping supply.
