Swiss Post has confirmed 40 job cuts and 20 contract changes in its IT division after negotiations with the union Syndicom
The final figure is lower than the 60 job cuts first announced in June, slightly helped by a hiring freeze and natural turnover in a Swiss IT workforce of 1500. Under pressure from staff and the union, Swiss Post has also suspended plans to expand its IT centre in Lisbon. Syndicom wants this delocalisation scrapped outright
The negotiated social plan comes into effect on January 1st, though the union says every one of the 40 lost jobs is one too many
