In theory, automated vehicles will be allowed on Swiss roads from next weekend.
The Road Traffic Act was updated two years ago and it allows from March 1st automated autoroute systems and driverless parking systems will be allowed in some car parks.
Also, fully automated driving will be allowed on some routes, providing the car has a level 3 autopilot system – but no manufacturer has put forward an application for approval yet.
A spokesman for the Federal Roads Office says it’s a rare example of the law being ahead of the manufacturers.
