It’s finally official, Lancy’s “Zero Advertising” policy is here to stay.
The Federal Court has rejected the final two appeals against the ban on commercial ads in public spaces, reports Léman Bleu.
A billboard company and Servette FC, as the stadium is in the commune, argued the measure violated economic freedom. But judges ruled the policy serves environmental and social goals in the public interest.
Sports and cultural sponsorships remain allowed, so the Stade de Genève won’t go blank.
The municipality now plans to remove its last billboards, keeping just 40 of 170 sites for essential signage.
Mayor Damien Bonfanti calls the ruling “good news for Lancy.”
