A man who’s a French national has had his request for a Swiss passport refused due to a speeding conviction.
He’s lived in Switzerland for 40 years and owns a successful hotel business. But he was caught driving at 80 kph past a construction site in Geneva in 2017 – when the limit was 40.
For the speeding offence he was fined over 3,000 francs.
The Federal Administrative Court decided the fine means he’s not well integrated.
He can reapply for citizenship.
