One of the founders of the climate group, Renovate Switzerland, was joined by 150 of his fellow protestors as he reported to the jail in Orbe in canton Vaud to serve a two-month sentence.
31-year-old Nicolas Presti was fined CHF 1,800 for property damage during a protest in August 2021– but he chose to go to jail instead.
He says that he stands by his actions and will take the consequences. He plans to keep the debate going by publishing a weekly podcast while in prison. He says he will talk about prison conditions, the climate emergency and civil resistance.
