Questions are being asked why security services couldn’t stop the recent attack on an Orthodox Jew in Zurich.
The Federal Intelligence Service has a unit which monitors the internet and social media in an effort to find extremists before they act.
The 15-year-old attacker posted a video online a day before the stabbing saying he wanted to kill all Jews and a link on his social media profile promoting Islamic State.
A report has been written about the actions of the security services – but it has not been published.
However, a copy has been seen by the NZZ.
The report does not mention the attack explicitly – but it says staff are unsure of the legal implications and there’s a lack of structured guidelines.
