The head of Credit Suisse, Antonio Horta-Osorio, has been forced to resign from the job after less than a year because of Covid rules violations.
He first broke the law at the beginning of December when he left for London on a private jet when he was supposed to be in quarantine and it emerged, he broke British rules when he attended the Wimbledon final in July.
The violations were investigated internally which allegedly uncovered other discrepancies.
Horta-Osorio has resigned ahead of an almost certain decision to sack him which can only be taken by the General Assembly. He says in a statement his resignation is in the best interest of the bank and the shareholders.
He’ll be replaced by Axel Lehman who was only elected to the Board of Directors in October. He comes from a long career in UBS and Zurich Insurance.
