Demolition of a dangerous building will start today in the middle of Geneva.
The buildings in Servette have been closed for the past two years after structural engineers feared it may collapse as metal supporting rods were too weak.
One of the first tasks will be removing the asbestos which was a common building material at the time.
The operation will last until October.
It’s planned a new apartment and hotel complex will take its place – keeping the retail space on the ground floor.
