The assisted suicide group Exit says it will launch a referendum against a decision by the canton of Geneva to repeal laws which allowed assisted suicide in care homes.
At the beginning of the month, the Geneva Grand Council voted to change a law set in 2018 which allowed the practice. Exit says before that law was put into place, care homes and clinics hindered the group’s ability to help patients looking to end their lives.
The law’s repeal is a step backwards, they say.
Exit has around three weeks to collect 5,479 signatures to force the issue to voters.
