A vegetable walk is being held in Geneva this weekend. The idea is to better connect urban dwellers with those who grow what we eat.
It’s organised by the Geneva vegetable growers’ union and will take place around Troinex and Veyrier.
The idea is simple, but festive. During a gentle 4 km loop, the walkers will pass by the farms and market stalls. Some farms will open their doors to allow a peek inside and many will have music and wine and beer tasting on offer – as well as the fresh, locally grown produce.
The farmers say it’s invaluable to show how they work and the fact that many produce organic crops.
The walk is this Sunday between 10 and 6. Cyclists will also be welcome along the route. All the details on www.umg.ch
