The Federal Roads Office is under fire after organising work seminars at spas – breaching its own spending rules.
The Sonntags Blick newspaper has been looking into more than one work ‘getaway’ organised by the federal department.
One was at the baths in Leukerbad in canton Valais. Five executives spent three nights away at the 4-star resort.
There was another one at a spa in Thun, which also included a visit to the local caves – that in itself cost CHF 200.
In all, the spa visits cost several thousand. All charged back to the tax payer.
The office has admitted the trips breached spending rules.
