Three men in Geneva have been fined and given suspended prison sentences for their part in a major parcel scam - but one thought to be the major player has escaped as he’s in Morocco.
The men collected parcels they’d ordered online – mainly coffee for Nespresso machines – and then shipped it to the north African country. The invoices were sent to unsuspecting victims, who reported them to the police.
The men aged between 28 and 50 say they handled between 500 and 700 packages, but claimed in court they didn’t realize it was a scam.
Judges were unconvinced.
The person who coordinated the operation from Morocco was not identified.
