An easyJet flight from Geneva to Bordeaux had to fly the entire distance with its landing gear down to burn fuel as it has been overfilled in Geneva.
The airline confirmed the incident in October, saying there was no danger to passengers.
The problem was after too much fuel was loaded when the plane was in Geneva – meaning it would have been too heavy to land in Bordeaux. To lighten the weight, the pilot chose to fly with the landing gear down to make the aircraft more inefficient.
The manoeuvre is extremely rare – but is permitted under the regulations.
