French taxi drivers block Geneva borders

French taxi drivers are demonstrating at some border crossings into Geneva today.

The drivers say they’re angry at Geneva authorities now strictly applying rules as to how many days a year they can operate in the canton.

The agreement says French taxis can operate 90 days a year in Switzerland and have to register their trip in advance.

This causes a major problem in border areas as many people take trips to the airport and hospitals.

The drivers want the time allocated in hours and not days.

Geneva says they have not changed the way they apply the rules and point out any change in the agreement has to be between Paris and Bern.

Drivers targeted the crossings at Bardonnex, Thonex, Anières and Ferney, causing some delays.
