The future of the Red Cross museum is under threat after the government says it will end its subsidy of a million francs within the next two years.
Its director, Pascal Hufschmid, told the press the closure of the museum is likely because the loss of the federal subsidy will be too much for it to absorb.
The museum is often shown to diplomatic visitors – and its excellence has been praised by the government.
It has around 115,000 visitors every year.
