The Geneva Grand Council has adopted a plan which it hopes will boost people using bicycles to travel around.
The goal is to increase daily bike journeys by 200,000 – a rise of 25%.
It will boost cycle lanes by 80 km in the canton.
The space for the new lanes will be made by closing roadside parking – but more park and ride car parks will be built – enough for 2,500 cars. Some of those car parks will be in neighbouring France – partly paid for by Geneva.
