Shops on Geneva’s Rue de Carouge may soon receive financial aid to offset months of disruption caused by major construction works.
The City is proposing a CHF 1.5m fund.
If approved, the scheme would cover up to 40 percent of rents for around one hundred businesses located between Place des Augustins and the Plainpalais roundabout.
The support would apply during the tram closure period from June to December.
The City is promising a simple and rapid process, with possible payments by the year’s end.
A vote is expected on September 30. It’s one of the first schemes of its type in the county.
