Geneva is activating its Cold Weather Plan this Friday as temperatures are expected to drop as low as minus four degrees with wind chill.
An additional Civil Protection shelter with 80 beds will open in Champel, bringing total emergency capacity to 577 places.
The shelter operates nightly from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 a.m., with admissions coordinated through the free hotline 0800 22 22 10.
Night patrols will also be reinforced to inform and guide homeless people.
The operation runs through Monday, and may be extended if the cold persists.
