Geneva’s vote on free dental care is now facing new uncertainty.
The Socialist Party’s initiative was rejected by just 142 ballots on Sunday, but with suspicions of fraud in Vernier, where more than 200 ballots are being examined, have cast doubt over the result.
Backers are asking the Federal Chancellery for a recount, arguing that if voting materials were taken and filled in fraudulently in Vernier, they could also have influenced the cantonal outcome.
With such a narrow margin, the party says even a small number of altered votes could flip the result.
