Geneva’s justice system is under mounting pressure - that’s the stark message from the latest annual report presented by Attorney General Olivier Jornot.
Although the system dealt with 120,000 cases last year - a backlog is building.
Mainly due to more complex financial, fraud and sexual cases.
Civil cases are also rising fast, driven in part by new federal bankruptcy rules, pushing disputes into the courts.
There is a small bright spot: rental disputes are falling sharply, and most are now settled through mediation.
But overall, officials warn the situation remains - in their words - “extremely tense and difficult.”
