Geneva police and firefighters came under attack over the Halloween weekend with fireworks and several fires were lit around the canton.
It started on Saturday evening around Cornavin station when passers-by were targeted with fireworks and laser pointers. There were more firework attacks later in the evening in Grand-Saconnex, Versoix, Thônex and Eaux-Vives with police vehicles being singled out.
Fireworks were also pointed at the police station in Servette.
Firefighters had to put out fires on the roads and in garbage bins six times.
Nine people have been arrested.
Police say it’s a phenomenon now linked with the Halloween weekend and seems to be focussed in Geneva. There were no similar attacks in Vaud.
