Geneva school holidays will change next year.
After lobbying from parents, the Jeune Genevois holiday, which always falls on a Thursday, will now come with the bridge. The Friday after will also be a holiday.
Parents complained that so many kids seemed to be strangely ‘sick’ the following day – the day was wasted for those who did show up.
Easter will be a 10-day break, including the Thursday before Good Friday and then a week off.
And the summer break, which was cut back in 2022 – so school started in the middle of August - will return to the old format but end two days earlier.
After the change, many parents complained it was still too hot in mid-August for school and those children with divorced parents say there wasn’t enough time to share custody.
