Geneva teachers return to work

Geneva teachers will be back in the classroom today after the canton agreed to talks.

The education minister, Anne Hiltpold, sent an email to unions inviting delegates to negotiations.

Unions confirm the strike notice has been lifted. The first talks will take place next week. 

Teachers are protesting the addition of two extra 45-minute lessons a week. The canton says it will bring Geneva schools into line with many others in the country and will save money.

Teachers say it will take time away from lesson preparation and meetings with parents.
