The canton of Geneva says it won’t ban the burkini in pools.
The Swiss People’s Party pushed a motion in the Grand Council to ban the one-piece swimming suit after rule changes passed two years ago allowed it.
Leading Swiss People Party member, Guy Mettan, says is flouts secularism and insults women – liking it to the fight against the burka in Iran.
Some argue it’s unhygienic and will hinder rescuers if necessary.
But the majority rejected all that and says the burkini in pools in a non-issue and women can decide for themselves.
