Easter has started for many people and motoring organisations are warning the roads will likely be very busy this week – especially Wednesday.
The north south route is already busy as many Germans started their break. There was a 10 km tailback at the Gotthard Tunnel on Saturday, meaning drivers had to wait for an hour and a half to get through, says the TCS.
The Federal Roads Office says Wednesday is expected to be particularly busy. In a statement it says experience shows that traffic levels build from the Wednesday ahead of the public holiday.
Easter Monday will also be very busy, but in the reverse direction.
