A group of 27 passengers in a cable car had to be rescued by helicopter yesterday after it got stuck.
The gondola at the Lungern-Turren in canton Obwalden ground to a standstill at 9am on Sunday morning – the first helicopter flight started two hours later. It could only take 3 at a time.
Passengers told the press there was no panic as they waited for rescue. Wine was opened and they said it wasn’t cold as enough as heat was generated by the people.
No information has been given as to why the cable car broke down. Engineers are still investigating.
