The recent heavy snow then followed by heavy rain means there remains a high danger of avalanche in many places, especially the Lower Valais and the northern slopes of the Alps.
Previous avalanches and rockslides have closed road and train lines in the Oberland and in cantons Graubünden and Uri.
76 villagers in Raron in Valais have been evacuated from their homes because of fears of further rockfalls. They were allowed back briefly over the weekend to collect some belongings while the fire brigade watched.
