There’s optimism from the EU on talks with Switzerland on a new framework agreement.
The two sides have been locked for years as the EU wants to replace a series of hundreds of separate treaties into one umbrella agreement.
The EU ambassador to Switzerland, Petros Mavromichalis, says he sees a landing zone for talks.
The main sticking points remain wage protection measures, the electricity market and health policy.
If talks are successful, it will mean Switzerland will be able to rejoin the EU’s research and training programmes; Horizon and Erasmus.
