In a further sign of the economy recovering – the number of overnight stays in Swiss hotels is now back to close to pre-pandemic levels.
The Federal Statistics Office says the demand has been driven by visitors from mainly Europe and the United States. But last year there were also high numbers of tourists from India and the Gulf States.
But there are far fewer people from China and Japan due to covid restrictions in those countries.
Compared to 2019, the number of Chinese tourists was down last year by 91%.
But there are hopes the numbers will start to climb again now China has lightened its rules.
