Mysterious signs have been stuck on shop windows across Geneva. Written in block lettering on a red background the signs say ‘Forbidden for Dogs and the Unvaccinated’.
The phrase refers back to previous years when there were concern about immigrants from southern Europe. At the time there were signs which read ‘no dogs and Italians’.
The signs have been placed by a group calling themselves ‘responsible and united citizens’ – but there’s no mention of them on the internet.
The signs are fake and the businesses which found them on the doors worked to remove them quickly.
But there also seems to be confusion as to the aim. Some say it’s an anti vaxx message – others believe it’s pushing to get vaccinated.
Either way, they’re offensive and illegal.
The head of the Italian Association in Geneva condemned the signs and the references to the former racist signs.
