The illegal bike lane painted on the road in Vernier has already been removed by the city and the activists could face charges.
The cantonal councillor Serge Dal Busco says such direct action can’t be tolerated – and adds there’s an ambitious project to improve mobility.
The Infrastructure Department says it’s not possible to have a bike lane on that section of road as space is too limited.
The group Extinction Rebellion admitted it was behind the illegal bike lane.
