Landmark store for Coop

Coop has opened its thousandth Swiss supermarket, in Emmen

The retailer has added 124 stores over the past decade, from central Geneva to Bettmeralp in the Valais.

Coop says 99% of the Swiss population now lives within 15 minutes of one of its shops by car, with an average drive of 4 minutes 53 seconds.

Around CHF 3.5 billion has been invested in modernising the stores over the last decade.
