Lausanne police launched a major operation yesterday morning after a witness called the police to say they’d seen a man drop a backpack and run away.
The bag was dumped on the Avenue de Morges around 11am near the Ecuadorian Consulate.
Emergency services responded quickly – with several ambulances, fire trucks as well as police.
The bomb squad used a robot to set off a controlled detonation to make the suspicious bag safe.
It was found not to be a bomb.
No one was injured and investigations continue.
