Visitors to the Luna Park in Lausanne had a scare over the weekend.
The large fairground ride, the Maxximum, made a loud cracking nose while in full operation.
In videos of the incident, you can hear people shout that it’s going to collapse.
But it didn’t, and no one was injured.
The ride’s owner, Jean-Marc Jolliet, says he knew exactly what had happened – the gear box broke.
He stresses there was never any danger to those on the rise. It came to a graceful stop, as it’s designed to do. He says it’s been fully checked by the authorities.
Burt those on the end of the arms of the giant machine may need new underwear – getting more of a fright than they were expecting.
