A man was killed on the A1 autoroute in canton Fribourg after he staggered into traffic following an accident.
The 47-year-old was heading towards Bern when his car smashed into the guard rail in the early hours of yesterday morning.
He got out and walked into the active lanes where he was hit by three other cars.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The road was closed for five hours as police launched an investigation and emergency services cleared the wreckage.
