More Geneva farms classed organic

More Geneva farms are being certified organic.

In the last 20 years the number of farms working to the green standard has gone from 5 to 60, according to figures from the Cantonal Statistics Office. 

Now one in 6 Geneva farms are classed as organic, covering 13% of agricultural land in Geneva and neighbouring France. 

Agricultural agreements for French bordering farms mean they’re classed as a Geneva farm.

Most of the organic production are cereal crops, but perennial crops - such as vines and fruit trees - are growing in importance.
